Rosby Update

Well, Rosby had more seizures on Sunday and they became more frequent. We ended up taking to her the animal hospital where they kept her overnight. They administered phenobaritol through an iv and monitored her. After half the dose, she had another seizure (around 5 pm), so they gave her the second half. We picked her up on Monday morning and no more seizures. She was not herself, very anxious. She walked around and around the house nonstop for HOURS (like more than 10) and she rarely stopped to rest. That night we ended up putting her in her crate because she wouldn't lay down and we couldn't sleep. Tuesday, Dan stayed home with Rosby and Abigail. Rosby had another seizure around 12:00, but it was not as intense as the previous ones. She had another one at 4 and another one at 5. I called the vet and he said to give her 1 and a half pills of pheno instead of just the one. She had twelve more seizures from then on, all through the night (less than an hour apart). Her last was at 3:15 a.m. It was awful. Fortunately, they were mild, didn't last long, and she was able to right to sleep afterwards. So, Wednesday morning, I called to vet and he said if she had one more to bring her in. Well, it took a while, but around 8 she had another. Dan packed up Rosby and Abigail and headed to the vet. I offered to come home from work, but Dan assured me that it was no problem and he had it under control. And sure enough, he did. At the vet, Rosby received a cortisone pill and she stayed there for the day. I called and checked on her every couple of hours and they did not see her have any seizures. Dan and Ben picked her up around 5:30 and while they were in the exam room with the vet, she had a seizure. When they got home, it looked like she probably had some while at the vet because she had caked-on saliva on her chin (evidence of seizure activity). Well, she seemed a little more like herself, but she did have another seizure around 7:30 pm. Great news through the night- No seizures! She had one this morning around 6:15, but it is almost 2:00 now and she is seizure-free. She is still not 100% herself and is having LOTS of potty accidents in the house, but she is getting better. I sure hope that we have found the right combo of medication for her. Please keep our Rosby in your thoughts and prayers.
